Lake-Sumter MPO Title VI and DBE
The Lake Sumter MPO assures that no person shall on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, family or religious status, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 and the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992 be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination or retaliation under any program or activity.

The Title VI Program is defined as part of the transporation planning work program which identies the planning strategies an the planning activities to be undertaken by the Lake~Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization. Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act provides that no person in the Unites States shall, on grounds of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any programs or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
The Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization has established a DBE Program in accordance with the regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation, 49 CFR Part 26. The MPO has received Federal financial assistance from the DOT, and as a condition of recieving this assistance, the MPO has signed an assurance that it will comply with 49 CFR Part 26. It is a policy of the MPO to ensure that DBEs, as defined in Part 26, have an equal opportunity to receive in the DOT-assisted contracts.
